Volaris El Salvador will sell tickets for BTC

El Salvador President Nayyib Bukele announced that the local airline Volaris El Salvador will accept payment for tickets in bitcoins.

As a result of the massive adoption of bitcoin in El Salvador, Volaris El Salvador, a subsidiary of Mexican low-cost airline Volaris, will begin accepting bitcoins as payment.

This news
announced Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele tweeted a month after El Salvador’s authorities issued a local Volaris subsidiary with a permit to work in the country. At a recent Volaris event, President Bukele emphasized that if residents pay with Bitcoin and use the Chivo wallet, it will allow the government to increase the number of flights.

“We have a Salvadoran airline with low cost tickets, accepting #Bitcoin,” Bukele wrote.

The Bukele government encourages citizens to use bitcoin for payments and has offered Chivo wallet users a discount on fuel payments. The country has already reinvested $ 4 million worth of unrealized bitcoin gains to fund infrastructure projects.

In early November, the Simon Bolivar International Airport of Maiketia in Venezuela also began accepting DASH and BTC cryptocurrencies, as well as the state-owned Petro cryptocurrency to pay for air tickets. As it turned out, there are other airports in the country that are ready to accept cryptocurrencies.
