Volkswagen brought ID to Munich. Life: compact electric car with fast charging for 1.7 million rubles

Today, September 6, at the Munich Motor Show, Volkswagen showed the new ID electric car. Life, which belongs to the entry level of the brand’s lineup. The basis of the novelty is a slightly shortened MEB platform with front-wheel drive – an electric motor with a capacity of 234 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque is installed on the front axle. Accordingly, this compact city car boasts quite good dynamics – from zero to one hundred in just 6.9 seconds, comparable to an average ICE sedan. The maximum speed of the electric car is 180 km / h, which is much faster than needed for the city.

Despite its compact size, the car is equipped with a 57 kWh battery, which is enough for 400 kilometers without recharging. And so that the owner does not have to stand for a long time at the “gas station”, ID. Life is equipped with fast charging technology – in just 10 minutes the electric car gets a charge for 160 kilometers. Additionally, the car boasts a good ground clearance of 190 millimeters and a roomy interior – you can even increase the trunk volume to 1285 liters if you fold all the seats except the driver’s. In addition, there is a trunk under the hood, but it is only 68 liters and is designed to transport the charging cable.

Inside, the car also has something to boast about – the door pocket acts as a wireless charger for smartphones, and instead of the usual side-view mirrors, special cameras are used. The picture from them is transmitted directly to the steering wheel (which looks more like a steering wheel, like the new Tesla), and the absence of mirrors improves aerodynamics. There is also a head-up display that displays information on the windshield of a car, a very stylish interior trim and a lot of little things that resemble a vehicle from films about the future. It is true that from this it will get to mass production – the question.

The manufacturer said the Volkswagen ID. Life will arrive in 2025 at a price of 20,000 euros for the basic version (approximately 1,730,000 rubles) and 25,000 euros for the top-end configuration (2,164,000 rubles).
