Today, July 7, Volkswagen representatives announced the start of sales of their new Taos crossover, and also announced prices for versions of the manufacturer’s most compact SUV. It is worth recalling that the compact SUV is a more affordable car than the Tiguan, while it is built on the latest MQB architecture (like the Skoda Karoq) and is available for sale in Russia with two engine options. The basic version comes with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated 110 horsepower engine complete with a five-speed manual gearbox and, of course, front-wheel drive.
There is also a version of a 1.4-liter engine, but with a turbine – this unit already develops 150 horsepower and is sold with an “automatic” or “robot” gearbox. A potential buyer can also purchase a version with both front and all-wheel drive – unfortunately, the basic version does not have such an option. And, unfortunately, Volkswagen’s new product turned out to be very expensive – for the basic version in the Respect configuration, the manufacturer asks for 1,626,900 rubles. The closest competitors from Hyundai or Kia are three hundred to five hundred thousand rubles cheaper. For the Status version, which will delight the owner with a 10-inch display, a large number of speakers and a front camera, you will have to pay 1,906,900 rubles.
The most expensive Exclusive equipment with a 150-horsepower engine, front-wheel drive and automatic transmission is sold for 2,099,900 rubles. If a potential buyer wants four-wheel drive, a “robot” electric tailgate, adaptive cruise control and other smart features, then you will have to pay extra. Moreover, at the start of sales of the new crossover, the buyer will have the opportunity to order a limited version of Joy! – this is the average configuration of the Status, but in a unique body design and with a brighter interior design, for which they ask for 2,023,400 rubles. Later when Joy! disassembled, only three versions of Taos will remain on sale.
