Volkswagen closes two factories in China. One that operates jointly with the FAW Group in Tianjin City, as well as a component factory, due to the coronavirus cases recorded in the area.
“Due to the recent outbreak of coronavirus, both the FAW-VW vehicle plant and the VW Automatic Transmission Tianjin parts plant have been closed since Monday,” a company spokesman told Reuters.
“In both factories, workers were diagnosed twice a week for coronavirus, and we are waiting for the results. We hope to return to production very soon and cover the lost production. The health and well-being of our workers remains a top priority.” , he stressed.
The city of Tianjin, located in northern China, about 100 km from Beijing, reported 41 cases on Wednesday, while another 33 were reported on Tuesday.
