Volkswagen confirmed this Friday (11) that the production of the VW Goal will be discontinued in Brazil in December, after four decades of uninterrupted production in the domestic market. The car was a sales leader in the automotive sector for 27 years.
To mark the vehicle’s farewell, the brand presents a special series called Gol Last Edition, developed by the Volkswagen do Brasil team and limited to a thousand units. Vehicle details such as its price are expected to be released by the end of November.
With the end of production of the Gol, the Polo Track assumes the position of the cheapest car of the brand. The model will cost the same price as the Gol currently, R$79,990, and comes as a simplified and more robust version of the traditional Polo.
Launched in 1980, the Gol began to be produced to replace the Beetle, a prominent vehicle in the country. The model reached 8 million units produced, and is considered the most produced, most sold and most exported car in the history of the national market.
