Volkswagen together with E.ON put into operation the first Drive Booster charging station, which does not require construction work for installation and connection to the power supply network. The station allows you to simultaneously charge two electric vehicles at once through standard connectors at a maximum power of 150 kW (15 minutes is enough for about 200 kilometers). At the same time, it is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery. Both companies hope that this way they can quickly build infrastructure by deploying an extensive network of fast charging stations.
Volkswagen intends to increase the number of fast charging stations in Europe fivefold by 2025, as Drive Booster stations require a minimum investment of time and money. Moreover, a regular charging station can be easily upgraded to the Booster system, it is connected to the network and configured via the Internet.
