Volkswagen has unveiled a sportier version of the ID.4 electric crossover. The automaker used the GTX brand, already familiar to motorists from the faster, sportier versions of the Jetta, Scirocco and Golf.
The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX model has two electric motors, one for each axle, which provide a combined power of 299 horsepower. The electric car can accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in 6.2 seconds – an adequate time for a practical and affordable five-passenger crossover.
For comparison, a Tesla Model Y with two electric motors accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 215 km / h. Up to 60 km / h Volkswagen ID.4 GTX can accelerate in 3.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 180 km / h.
Power is supplied by a 77 kWh battery, the same as in the standard configuration. Compared to the original model, the GTX’s range is reduced to 480 km in the WLTP cycle, while the regular ID.4 is capable of 520 km.
In Europe, the Volkswagen ID.4 GTX will arrive in the summer of 2021. Prices start at 50,415 euros.
