Volkswagen launches five-year plan to accelerate shift to EVs

Volkswagen will accelerate the shift of its product line to electric cars and revamp its software strategy in a five-year investment plan presented on Friday (10).

The company discussed how to reorganize the German group’s production network to accelerate the change, the company said in a statement without giving details.

Volkswagen, whose brands include Audi, Porsche, VW and Seat, is also looking at how to fix a software strategy plagued by delays and cost overruns.

Details of the new plan will be presented at the company’s annual conference, scheduled for March 14.

The plan is the first since Volkswagen and Porsche Chief Executive Oliver Blume took the helm last year.
