Volkswagen plans to double its electric vehicle charging infrastructure by the end of 2025

Electrify America, the car-charging arm of Volkswagen, which builds infrastructure for charging electric vehicles, today said it plans to more than double its charging network in the United States and Canada over the next four years.

According to the company, by the end of 2025 it expects to have more than 1,800 fast charging stations installed, bringing the total number of chargers to 10,000.

The deployment of charging infrastructure has attracted the attention of companies in several sectors, including utilities, auto makers, and major oil companies. They all hope to capitalize on the growing demand for electricity as the global shift to electric vehicles continues.

Electrify America currently has 635 charging stations with approximately 2,850 fast charging “outlets”.
