Today, June 11, Volkswagen finally unveiled a completely new generation of the Multivan line – the T7 model has acquired the modular MQB platform, which is used by the manufacturer in many modern cars. Along with this, of course, the company updated the body design and interior of the van, but the most important changes are in the new item under the hood – for the first time, a representative of the Multivan series boasts a hybrid version of the eHybrid, which is based on a 1.4 TSI petrol engine with 150 horsepower, complete with an electric motor for 85 kilowatts. All this works in tandem with a six-speed “robot” DSG, and the total power of this system is 218 horsepower – pretty good.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer has so far decided not to talk about how much Multivan T7 can travel on one electric power plant, but the 13 kWh battery, which is located under the floor of the car, gives hope for comfortable travel within the city. Also, a potential buyer can choose slightly more powerful ICE models – 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI for 136 and 204 horsepower, respectively, and next year the manufacturer will also show a diesel version for 150 “horses”. In this case, the drive will be exclusively front – in this regard, there are no alternatives.
Outwardly, of course, the car retained its signature features, but the trend of new technologies and the shift towards electric cars left their mark. But most of the changes, of course, are in the cabin – the manufacturer preferred a fully digital dashboard, there is also a large touchscreen of the Ready 2 Discover multimedia system, which can show traffic jams, charging ports and start navigation. There is also a full set of IQ.Drive safety systems including Travel Assist – the car can move at speeds up to 210 km / h in semi-automatic mode.
Volkswagen Multivan T7 in the European market should appear before the end of this summer, approximately then I will name the cost of versions and options. Probably, the novelty will also appear on the Russian market at the end of summer.
