Its president Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelenskydescribed the situation as “extremely difficult” in battlefield in the Donetsk region, which he described as the “highest priority” for the Ukrainian army, since he believes that the same applies to the Russians invaders.
“The situation in the Donetsk region is extremely difficult,” Zelensky said in his video message, marking 215 days since the start of the Russian invasion of his country. “We are doing everything we can to curtail hostile activity. This is our primary objective at the moment, because Donbass is the primary objective of the occupiers”he underlined.
“Despite Russia’s apparent irrationality and loss of initiative, the leadership of the Russian military is leading its soldiers to their deaths”he argued and continued: “The continuous attacks of the Russian army in the Donetsk region will certainly go down in history for the cynical “murders” of their soldiers. When we see these attacks, we are reassured that all those responsible care about is having a steady stream of people who will become a boon. There is no other point in conscription”.
“They feel like they’re going to lose and they’re just trying to delay the inevitable, to make sure they have at least some people holding a gun in their hands. Unfortunately, the Russian society is still unaware of the brutality of the Russian government even towards the people themselves. But we should do everything so that every citizen of Russia understands that the state itself is depriving him of the most important thing – the right to life.”he stated.
Since the start of the invasion of Ukraine on February 24, Russian troops have captured all of Luhansk and are slowly but steadily advancing on Donetsk – the two regions that make up Donbas.
