“Today (i.e. yesterday) I spoke with the Prime Minister of Greece”Mr. Zelensky began and continued: “We summarized what happened during the previous year and I thanked Greece for the support it provides to our country. We agreed in the new year to look at ways to make our partnership even more meaningful and meaningful.”.

Mr. Zelensky underlined that during 2023 his country will be more active in the field of diplomacy in order to develop and strengthen its cooperation with its partners both in Europe and the rest of the world, as the process is ongoing of its accession to the European Union, while it has applied to join NATO as well.

In the meantime, the Ukrainian leader, speaking about the situation on the front, emphasized that the Ukrainian forces are holding their positions against the Russian troops in the eastern region of Donbas and are achieving little progress in some areas.

“In general, we hold our positions” Zelensky said in his evening speech. “There are also some areas of the front where we are making slight progress”.

Zelensky said Ukraine, which has been receiving waves of airstrikes from Russia, has strengthened its anti-aircraft capabilities and will further strengthen them next year to protect its territory and the entire European continent.

I held a meeting of the Staff – the 45th this year. The key is Donetsk region, Luhansk region. Our Donbas, where the fiercest battles continue. Bakhmut, Soledar, Kreminna… We hold our positions. There’re also areas of the front where we are slowly advancing. I thank all our soldiers who ensure this. You are real heroes! We discussed the situation in the south, on our border. Supply of weapons. More strengthening of air defense. This year, we have not only retained our air defenses, but we’ve made them stronger than ever. In 2023 Ukrainian air defense will become stronger and more effective. We discussed the energy sector, what we’re preparing for, after a meeting of the Staff, at a separate meeting. We have a clear strategy for ensuring the generation and supply of electricity. It takes time to implement it. It takes a lot of effort. But it’ll definitely be. It’s the most important task for the next year, I have no doubt that we will accomplish it. Glory to all our people! Glory to Ukraine!
