Von der Layen: “Safe is open to future EU members, such as Ukraine”

Speaking from The Hague, Ursula von der Laienne, at the inaugural meeting of the NATO Summit for the Defense Industry Forum, said that the Safe program for European equipment will also include countries that will belong to the EU in the future, such as Ukraine. “The defense Europe has finally woken up,” he said, describing “historians” the defense spending target at the 5% that NATO’s summit will set tomorrow, underlining the importance of the way investment will be spent. “The security architecture we have been based on for decades can no longer be taken for granted,” he added and welcomed the new action that Europe has taken in recent months.
