Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a telephone conversation today with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, discussing the possibility of EU assistance to Ukraine’s borders, Zelensky said on Twitter.
“The possibility of EU assistance for a provision on the Ukraine-Belarus border was discussed, as well as the possibility of setting up a regional platform to enhance energy security,” he said.
On Monday, Zelensky said he had talked to European Council President Charles Michel about the migration crisis on the border with Belarus, and agreed to coordinate their next steps.
Ukraine is worried that it could become another hotbed of the immigration crisis, which Kiev blames on Russia. The EU agreed on Monday to impose new sanctions on Minsk.
