Von der Leyen for talks with Orban: ‘We have made progress, further work is needed’

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Monday that she had made progress in talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on a possible EU-wide ban on Russian fossil fuels, according to Reuters.

“Tonight’s discussion with Prime Minister Victor Orban was helpful in clarifying issues related to sanctions and energy security,” von der Leyen said in a Twitter post.

“We have made progress, but further work is needed,” he added.

The President of the Commission announced that she would convene a teleconference with other countries in the region to strengthen regional cooperation in oil infrastructure.
