The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen had a contact with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and stressed to her interlocutor, as she states in a post on Twitter, that the European course of his country has begun.
“I assured President Zelensky of the EU’s unwavering support. Ukraine’s European course has now begun. Times like these need vision, stability and resilience to take one difficult step after another,” he said. He also said that he had informed Volodymyr Zelensky about the disbursement of a second tranche of about 300 million euros in macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
“The brave people of Ukraine need this money now. It will support the country’s finances, as this irrational war is still raging,” Ursula von der Leyen said.
