Serbian President Aleksandar Vuτςiτς assessed that the argument used by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the recent meeting in Moscow with UN Secretary General Antonio Gutierrez, where he referred to the secession of Kosovo to justify the secession of the Republicans and Lugansk, weakened the Serbian stance on the Kosovo issue.
“Serbia will in the near future accept unbearable pressure from Western countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence and thus refute Putin’s argument,” he said. Vucic at a press conference. He said Serbia was already paying a high price for not imposing sanctions on Russia but – he said – would continue its policy and “would not erase its friendships in the East”.
Referring to the European perspective, Vuτςiτς pointed out that in the future, efforts will be intensified to meet all the conditions for accession to the European Union. The Serbian president described as worrying the fact that public support for European integration has declined and for the first time a majority of citizens oppose EU membership. will make efforts to convince the citizens that it is the only perspective that guarantees the development of the country and the prosperity of the citizens.
Referring to the issue of energy, the President of Serbia stressed that the country is completely dependent on Russian fossil fuels and for the next two years will not be able to find other sources of supply to replace them.
