Waack: Bolsonaro’s problem is how to get away with it if he loses the elections

How much did President Jair Bolsonaro know about the Federal Police investigation against his former Minister of Education, who ended up in jail for a day?

And, if he knew, did he say anything to the target of the investigation, the minister for whom he would at least put his hand in the fire?

Yes, Bolsonaro would have alerted the minister to a search and seizure operation against him, which ended up happening. This is what the Federal Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office suppose, which forwarded a telephone intercept to the STF with the minister telling his daughter that Bolsonaro had alerted him to the Federal Police operation.

It is a fact that, with the captive electorate, none of the complicated issues for Bolsonaro seem to have any effect. And it is a fact that the president remains alive in the electoral race, although his opponent maintains a good lead.

For the electoral race, it can be assumed that this political turmoil caused by the publication of the telephone intercepts would not do much harm to the Bolsonaro campaign.

The case demonstrates, however, that the problem for Bolsonaro is not to escape smoothly when running in the elections. It’s like getting away with it if you lose the election.
