It is no longer the face itself, but it is still the hand that Jair Bolsonaro would put on fire for the former Minister of Education, arrested and released on suspicion of facilitating business in the portfolio he ran.
Bolsonaro is committed to fighting – a normal thing – the possible negative effects of the episode on his reelection campaign.
The real problem for Bolsonaro is the consistency with which opinion polls indicate not only that his main opponent – Lula – leads with comfort, but that the election would be decided in the first round.
Today, another big one came out, and the headline of this poll, like the others, is that Bolsonaro would be easily defeated today.
Lula’s strength, all the surveys indicate, lies in the low-income electorate. It is on this band that the government’s efforts are focused to set up a program to increase Auxílio Brasil, so far, without success.
That’s what makes the number of those who would put their hand, face or anything on fire for Bolsonaro’s re-election decrease.
