The plane crash that occurred in the city of Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, involving a Voepass ATR 72-500 aircraft and which resulted in 61 fatalities, was the subject of analysis by the anchor of CNN William Waack during the program CNN Prime Time .

Regarding the age of the aircraft involved in the accident, which made its first flight in 2010, the expert clarified that 14 years is not considered a long period for a commercial aircraft.
“All aircraft, especially commercial aviation ones, undergo an absolutely strict regular maintenance program,” he explained.

Waack emphasized that rigorous maintenance is a requirement not only of insurers and airlines, but also of the Brazilian regulatory authority, the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
This process ensures that a 14-year-old aircraft, when well cared for, remains “absolutely reliable.”
The journalist also highlighted the technical aspects of the ATR 72-500, describing it as “a very well-built machine, with an excellent engine and the most modern equipment”.
