Waack: Trump disrupts friends while helping opponents

Brazil has not yet found a way to deal with Donald Trump. Which does not put us in any special situation.

Even the countries that reacted to the imposition of tariffs adopted a cautious posture in the background. Like, “Let’s wait because this access of madness goes by, while that we won’t clap for the madman to dance.”

The problem is the already palpable consequences of madness as a method – or the method of madness, as you prefer.

In the economy, Trump threw uncertainty not only markets, but also confidence about the American economy. In geopolitics, it buried 80 years of the world that the United States led, leaving the jungle law in its place.

However, the laws of physics say that every action causes a reaction. Its economy competitors – such as Europe and China – are running to articulate with each other. Direct’s right -wing forces unconditionally allied Trump were defensive in countries in Europe or Canada. (Run the same risk here in Brazil).

That is, instead of helping political friends, Trump is disturbing. Their geopolitical opponents, such as Russia, pretend they became friends, while extracting more concessions to secure their – from the opponents of the United States – interests.

Even the old Europe rehearses its own ways, detached from the United States. Trump did create a huge mess. Former friends and old enemies are seeing this an opportunity.
