Wagner-Russian military clash: General threatens Prigozhin to quit ‘before it’s too late’, FSB accuses him of calling for civil war

THE Russian influential general Sergei Surovikin called yesterday Friday (23/6) the fighters of the private military company Wagner to to “stop” and return to their barracks “before it is too late”after the call by their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, to rebel against Russia’s military leadership.

“I am addressing the warriors and leaders of the Wagner group. We have the same blood, we are warriors. I’m asking you to stop. Before it is too late, you must obey the will and orders of the president-elect of Russia”General Surovikin emphasized in a video posted on the Telegram platform by a journalist of the Russian state television.

The FSB accuses Prigozhin of calling for civil war

Russia’s FSB security service on Friday accused the head of Russia’s private military company Wagner of inciting civil war calling for a mutiny against the general staff and called on his men to disobey him and proceed to arrest Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Prigozhin’s statements and actions are actually a call for civil war to break out on Russian soil. We call on the fighters of the Wagner group not to commit this irreparable mistake, to stop their violent actions against the Russian people, not to implement Prigozhin’s criminal and treasonous orders and to take measures to arrest him,” the FSB said, broadcast in Russian news agencies.

The Ukrainian army is “monitoring” the conflict between Wagner and Russia’s military leadership
