Google has announced the launch of a long-awaited feature for Google TV, the lack of which users have been complaining about online since the fall. We are talking about children’s profiles.

Google TV is not a standalone OS or a renamed Android TV, but an additional shell for Android TV. It is used in the new Chromecast media player, which debuted in October 2020. Since its launch, Google TV users have started to complain about the lack of full support for multiple profiles on the device, especially child profiles, in order to protect children from some content and applications.

Until now, Google TV has not provided a separate home screen, personal streaming service settings, and so on for individual users with different Google accounts.

Now Google has announced the launch of children’s profiles for Google TV. This is another step towards full support for profiles for different users on one device.

Parents can add an existing Google account for their child or create a new one. Parents can also choose which apps are available in their kids profile, share movies and TV shows from the Google Play family library, limit access times and set bedtime.
As noted by Google, kids’ profiles for Google TV will begin rolling out to users in the US during March. An international launch is expected in the coming months.
