Wales: A councilor resigned when rumors surfaced that he was Banksy

Wales City Councilman resigns from his office, when rumors circulated that he is the Banksy. William Gannon, 58, became a city councilor in Pembroxire after a four-decade career as an artist.

Once he took on the role of advisor, however, Rumors started circulating that he is the famous street art artist, based in Bristol, who did not disclose his identity. William Gannon believes the rumors were circulated by a rival adviser and has now added a section I Am Not Banksy on its official website.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Gannon said the rumors had made his position on the council “unsustainable” and he therefore had to resign.

«There is no truth to that, I’m not Banksy” he said. “I was almost in the same place with Banksy almost at the same time doing the same things as a community artist and a lot of the information is cross-referenced. It’s so ridiculous that it’s hilarious, but there’s something ominous about it. The joke is to my detriment».

“I do not know if I am in some crazy, imaginary kind of delusion or some terrible nightmare,” Ganon told Insider. «Ζoh in a novel by Kafka».

According to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, William Ganon worked as a community artist painting playgrounds, hospital walls and other buildings.
