The wall of a gym fell on two children during the rain that hit the city of Americana, in the interior of São Paulo, on the Proclamation of the Republic holiday (15).
The incident happened around 6pm and, according to Civil Defense, the wall collapsed due to strong gusts of wind.
According to the city hall, an 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were taken to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Chavantes with fractures to their body. The boy had plaster cast on his fractured limbs and was discharged from hospital. The oldest was in a more serious condition and was transferred to a private hospital.
The place operates as a martial arts academy, and was closed on the same day by the Civil Defense. According to the corporation’s coordinator, the space will remain closed until the owners repair the area of the collapsed wall.
