Wall Street Today (S&P 500) (Nasdaq): Markets remain calm as the end of the year approaches

This is what you need to know to trade today, Wednesday, December 21:

The shortest day of the year for those of us who live in the northern hemisphere and stock markets also took the short cut home with little movement on Tuesday. The Bank of Japan (BoJ) provided some early excitement, but equity markets were little changed at close. Things look a bit more rosy this Wednesday morning, as European stocks rose as US Treasury yields dipped a bit. However, volumes and volatility remain low as we approach the end of the trading year.

The dollar is stable at 104.00, while the price of gold holds on to yesterday’s gains at $1,815. Bitcoin is trading at $16,840.

European markets to the upside, Eurostoxx, FTSE and DAX rise 1%.

US futures also up, Dow and Nasdaq +1% and S&P +0.8%.
