Walmart had net income of US$ 3.56 billion in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2022, which ended on January 31, according to a corporate balance sheet released on Thursday (17).
The result reverses the loss of US$ 2.09 billion recorded in the same period of the previous year.
The company reported earnings of $1.53 per share, in adjusted terms, in the three months ending in January and beat analysts polled by FactSet, who had forecast $1.50 per share.
The retail giant’s revenue totaled US$152.87 billion in the period, up a modest 0.5% year-on-year, but above the market consensus of US$151.72 billion.
The company’s sales in the United States advanced 5.7% on the same comparative basis, to US$ 105.2 billion, while in the rest of the world, they fell 22.6%, to US$ 26.997 billion.
