“War” between Washington and Beijing over balloons: “Americans have illegally flown into our airspace,” says China

Aggravation of relations between Washington and Beijing have brought the balloons that have flown in the airspace of the two countries.

The USA they have released more than 10 balloons of high altitude from May 2022, which then illegally flew into the airspace of China and that of other countries, the representative of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today.

“The US needs to do a thorough investigation and give the China an explanation for this,” Wang Wenbin noted on Tuesday (14/2) at a regular briefing for reporters.

At the same time, the US military announced that the US recovered important parts of its sensors and electronic equipment of a Chinese balloon that was shot down in early February.

“(Research) teams were able to recover significant debris at the site, including all priority sensors and identified electronic components, as well as large portions of the downed balloon structure,” they said in a statement issued yesterday, Monday (13 /2) publicly the American armed forces.

For Washington, there is no doubt that it was a Chinese spy balloon, which entered US airspace for several days before it was shot down. However, Beijing asserts for its part that it is an airship for civilian purposes that was used for research purposes, mainly meteorological.

That balloon was shot down on February 4 by an F-22 fighter jet off South Carolina, and teams were immediately deployed offshore to retrieve its debris from the sea.

Since then, US fighter jets have shot down three mysterious flying objects, one over Alaska in the northwestern US, another over the Yukon in northwestern Canada, and a third over Lake Huron in the northern US.
