The planned one ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will last a maximum of 10 days, during which up to 300 Palestinian prisoners in Israel are to be exchanged for up to 100 Hamas hostages, according to today’s Times of Israel information, citing the Israeli cabinet.
After that, the battles at Gaza Strip are expected to continue, the newspaper reports.
Israeli news website Ynet also reported that Israel plans to notify the Hamas the names of the hostages. The agreement is said to also stipulate that mothers who have been taken hostage by Hamas gunmen will not be separated from their children upon their release.
According to the Times of Israel report, hostages must be Israeli citizens or residents of the country. It has not been revealed who exactly falls into this category.
In the first phase, the Israel plans to release 150 Palestinian prisoners once 50 hostages are freed. The release will be phased in over a four-day period, during which at least 10 hostages will be freed each day.
In the second phase, a further up to 150 Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli jails – provided that, in return, up to 50 hostages are returned to Israel. Again, at least 10 hostages should be released in each phase. According to the Israeli newspaper report, a further 24-hour ceasefire will be observed for every 10 hostages released.
