In order to appease the population, Dagestan’s military commissar, Daitbeg Mustafayev, said this weekend that only men with “military qualification” would be recruited on priority and that no conscripts would be sent to Ukraine.
Protests broke out in Russia against the partial conscription ordered on September 21 by President Vladimir Putin.
According to OVD-Info and as reported by the Athens News Agency, at least 2,300 people have been arrested since then during actions against conscription. A significant number of departures of Russians to neighboring countries have also been observed.
His critics accuse the Kremlin of wanting to prioritize recruiting men who live in poor and deprived areas.
