A humanitarian corridor is expected to open today in the Ukrainian city of Sumy, announced the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine. Earlier it was known that More than ten people have been killed in Russian airstrikes in Sumy.
The civilians are expected to start departing by bus at 10:00 Greek time, according to him and as broadcast by Reuters and the Athens News Agency.
Japan announces new sanctions against Russians and Belarusians
Meanwhile, the Japanese Ministry of Finance announced today that freezes any resources of 32 other Russian and Belarusian officials and oligarchs in Japanese jurisdiction because of it invasion of Ukraine.
The new sanctions target 20 Russians, including officials and associates of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government, vice-speakers of parliament, the leader of the Chechen Republic, executives of companies with close ties to the Kremlin, and Wagner.
They target 12 Belarusian officials and businessmen, as well as 12 organizations in Russia and Belarus.
Any payment or transfer of funds to the persons subject to the sanctions will henceforth require a special government permit.
Japan has also banned the export of refinery equipment to Russia and general (or “dual”) items that could be used by the military in Belarus.
Exports of items destined for the Ministry of Defense, the armed forces and the Belarussian police, as well as the JSC Integral company, were banned.
