War in Ukraine: At least three dead after attack on apartment building in Kharkov, says an official

The Russian attacks on major Ukrainian cities. In the Ίζιουμ of Kharkov the fire is incessant as fighting rages and according to the deputy mayor of the city, Volodymyr Matsokin, there are at least three dead civilians. The fires, he said, hit an apartment building and a house.

In the Kyivagain, there were two powerful explosions recently in the city center and two more near the metro station Arsenalnaya.

Earlier, the mayor of Kherson, Igor Kolikayev, said on Wednesday night (2/3) that Russian soldiers had deployed in the city streets and that they had invaded the city council earlier.

The Ukrainian government has downplayed reports that Kherson was under Russian control, the first time a major Ukrainian city has been under siege since the Russian-led invasion began last week.

Kolikayev urged Russian troops not to shoot at civilians and called on civilians not to gather outdoors or take to the streets at night.

“We have no military forces in the city, only civilians – people who want to LIVE,” the mayor of the Ukrainian city said in a statement.
