War in Ukraine: Banksy graffiti on bombed house in Borodyanka

The mysterious graffiti artist Banksy effectively confirmed that the mural that recently appeared in a suburb of the Ukrainian capital is his.

Late on Friday night (11/11), the leading street artist, Banksy, “uploaded” to his Instagram account photos of graffiti in a ruined house, with the caption “Borodianka, Ukraine”. Borodyanka is a suburb of Kyiv that was relentlessly bombed during the Russian invasion.

The graffiti depicts a girl attempting vertical, on a wall still standing in the bombed house.

The posting of graffiti images on Banksy’s Instagram account are seen as confirmation by the mysterious artist – whose identity remains unknown – of the work’s authorship.

However, in addition to the graffiti on Borodyanka, two other murals appeared on Kyiv’s Independence Square that have many features in common with Banksy’s distinctive style. However, for these there is no official recognition as yet whether they are his or another artist’s.

The world-renowned artist has previously traveled to conflict-ridden areas, including the West Bank.
