War in Ukraine – “Bell” from the Kremlin: Increase pressure on the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

Call on the international community to put pressure on Ukraine in between war to reduce military tension around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant site, the Kremlin on Monday (29/8) accused Kyiv of putting Europe at risk ahead of a visit to the UN nuclear watchdog’s facility .

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said earlier today that it would inspect the station this week and that a group of him is en route to the facility, which has become the focus of international concern with Ukraine and Russia accusing each other of endangering his security.

Ukrainian personnel manage the station, which is Europe’s largest and is connected to the Ukrainian power grid. Russian forces gained control of it in early March in what Moscow calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine.

Russia and Ukraine have denied bombing the Zaporizhia station area in recent weeks, with each accusing the other of shelling the area.

“Pressuring the Ukrainian side to stop shelling can reduce military tension,” the Kremlin spokesman said. Dmitry Peskov in a video conference with reporters, responding to a question about whether Moscow would like to see a de-escalation of the situation at the station.

“All countries must put pressure on Ukraine so that it stops endangering the European continent,” he added, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

Peskov said that Moscow welcomes the upcoming visit and is willing to cooperate with the IAEA.

But he said Moscow was not talking about the possibility of creating a demilitarized zone around the station – something the United States has called on it to implement.
