War in Ukraine: Children killed and injured by Russian attacks

Several children have been killed and injured as a result of Russian attacks and mishandling of ammunition, Ukrainian officials said yesterday.

“In Zelenodolsk, the Russians killed a 9-year-old child,” the head of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Valentin Reznichenko, said via Telegram.

In total, some ten people were injured in rocket attacks, most of them seriously, he added.

Rocket attacks were also reported in the city of Mykolife, where an 8-year-old child was reportedly killed and two other children and two adults were injured.

In the Chernihiv region (north), the authorities spoke of Russian artillery strikes that caused damage to several buildings.

In the same area, the negligence of a Ukrainian military officer resulted in children being injured.

A grenade launcher was accidentally detonated at an arms exhibition in the capital city of Chernihiv. Five people, including four children aged 2 to 12, were injured. The prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation.
