War in Ukraine: Cyprus bans mooring of Russian warships in Limassol

Cyprus has banned the mooring of Russian warships in the port of Limassol, “Phileleftheros” reported in today’s article.

In particular, diplomatic sources confirmed that the Republic of Cyprus did not allow the berthing of five ships of the Russian Navy, which hadscheduled visit to the port of Limassol in the framework of the cooperation between Cyprus and Russia and the provision of facilities by the Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.

These were frigates and support boats that would come for refueling purposes.

The Foreign Ministry verbally informed Russia that due to developments in Ukraine the agreement on the provision of facilities and berths can not be valid. This forced Russian ships to look for another port for refueling.
