War in Ukraine: Fighter trapped in Azovstal asks Elon Musk to save them

Appeal to the billionaire owner of SpaceX Elon Musk to help fortified fighters in the steel industry besieged by Russian forces in Mariupol addresses one of them.

Many civilians were rescued from the huge Azofstal factory last week under an agreement with Russia, but no agreement has been reached with Moscow to allow the evacuation of hundreds of fighters, some of whom have been wounded after weeks of bombing.

“@Elonmusk people say come from another planet to teach people to believe in the impossible. “Our planets are next to each other, as I live where it is almost impossible to survive,” Marine Commander Serhiy Volina wrote on Twitter.

“Help us get out of Azofstal into an intermediary country. If not you, then who? “Give me a signal,” he pointed out, as broadcast by the Athenian News Agency.

Musk, the richest man in the world, owns the space rocket company SpaceX and the electric car maker Tesla, and plans to buy Twitter. It is not clear at this time whether Musk has seen Volina’s tweet.

Ukrainian officials say about 1,000 fighters are resisting Azovstal’s many underground galleries, hundreds of which have been seriously injured and urgently need to be evacuated. The factory is being pounded by Russian fire while in progress war.

In February, when Ukraine’s internet access was cut off after the Russian invasion, Musk responded to a tweet from a Ukrainian official asking for help. Musk said SpaceX’s satellite broadband service would be available in Ukraine and that SpaceX would send more terminals to the country.
