War in Ukraine: Germany delivers 500 anti-aircraft missiles to Ukrainian armed forces

Its armed forces Of Ukraine received 500 anti-aircraft gunners Strela missiles from the Germany last Thursday, Welt am Sonntag revealed in yesterday’s issue.

According to the German newspaper, the weapons were handed over by the German to the Ukrainian army on Polish territory.

A spokesman for the German Ministry of Defense limited himself to saying that due to “operational issues and security issues” it could not refer to specific weapons systems that were delivered. He noted, however, that a wide range of military equipment had already been delivered or would be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces by the German.

More material will be delivered when possible, he added.

Initially there was talk of procuring 2,700 such missiles, but the issue needs to be addressed by the Federal Security Council.

The Strela missilesof Soviet design, were in the reserves of the German forces after they inherited them from the former GDR.
