In his speech today Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused the West of “trying to undo” Russian culture. and referred to the reactions against the British author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling, which he said was “canceled” because it “did not meet the requirements of gender rights.”
THE JK Rowling indeed, she has been widely criticized for her views on transgender people, but even there, Vladimir Putin has found no ally.
The creator of Harry Potter responded by posting a BBC article about Alexei Navalny on social media, writing:
“Criticism of Western culture of annulment may not be better spoken of by those who today slaughter civilians for the crime of resistance or who imprison and poison those who criticize them.”
She even accompanied her tweet with the hashtag #IStandWithUkraine.
