War in Ukraine: Insidious plans hated by Russia hated, says Zelensky

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky expressed satisfaction today that its “insidious” plans were thwarted Russiawhere invaded his countryand his pride in the “heroic” resistance of Ukrainians.

“Our nation thwarted the enemy’s plans within a week. “Plans written years ago: insidious, full of hatred for our country, for our people”, said Mr. Zelenski in a video that was uploaded on social media. He also said that 9,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in the first week of the attacks.

International Criminal Court: Launch of war crimes investigation

His Attorney General International Criminal Court (ICC) announced the “immediate start” of an investigation into the situation in Ukraine, where war crimes are allegedly being committed, after receiving the green light from the 39 member states of the international institution.

“I inform the Bureau of the ICC of my decision to immediately launch an inquiry into the situation in Ukraine,” said the British Attorney General. Karim Khan, in a press release issued by his services. “Our work to gather evidence has begun,” he added.

Ukraine had appealed to the International Court of Justice in The Hague and in fact, the office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court announced last Monday (28/2) that it will seek approval to launch an investigation into allegations of war crimes in Ukraine.

Prosecutor Karim Khan had already expressed concern about the Russian invasion of Ukraine since Friday and said that the International Criminal Court could investigate allegations of crimes that have arisen in the current crisis, according to international news agencies.
