War in Ukraine: Kiev says it has repelled a new drone attack on the capital

In full repulsion of a new attack by Russian drones moved against Kiev Ukraineas announced by the country’s political and military administration.

“This night, the attacker carried out another mass attack with drones”wrote on the Telegram platform the head of the political and military administration of Kyiv Serhii Popko.

“All identified air targets were shot down by the city’s anti-aircraft defenses”he assured clarifying that, according to preliminary information, the attack was carried out by Shahid drones.

“Kiev was not hit!”, he wrote, but debris fell in the capital, mainly causing a fire – which has now been extinguished – on the roof of an apartment building in the Dnipro district. The fire caused no casualties, Popko clarified.

According to the official, debris also fell in three other districts of Kyiv, Darnytsky, Peshersk and Solomyansky. So far there are no reports of casualties, he added.

At 00:45 (local time and Greek time) the Ukrainian army had announced that Shahid drones were heading towards the Kyiv region.

Explosions were reported there by authorities, as well as in Chernihiv (north-central Ukraine) and Mariupol (south-eastern Ukraine) regions.

Air defense systems remain active in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, according to the armed forces.
