War in Ukraine: Kyiv rejects Russia’s humanitarian corridors

Kiev’s attitude towards the humanitarian corridors proposed by Moscow to Russia and Belarus for the evacuation of civilians from Kyiv, Kharkov, Mariupol and Sumy is negative.according to the Deputy Prime Minister Of UkraineIrina Verestsuk.

“It is not an acceptable proposal”stressed Verestsuk.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Ukraine also noted that Kyiv urges Moscow to agree to a ceasefire this morning so that Ukrainians trapped in cities in the east of the country can reach as far as Lvivto the west.

Earlier, a spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky complained that Russia’s proposal for humanitarian corridors is “completely immoral”.

“It’s a completely immoral story. “Human suffering is used to create the desired television image.”the spokesman complained in a text message.

“These are citizens of Ukraine, they should have the right to resort to Ukrainian territory”he added.

Earlier today, the Russian military announced that it would hold a temporary ceasefire from 09:00 (Ukrainian time and Greek time) in order to open humanitarian corridors in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy, at the request of French President Emanuel Macron.

The Russian military added that will open a corridor between Kiev and the Belarusian city of Gomellocated near the Ukrainian border.

Two other corridors will start from Mariupol through which civilians can be directed either to the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don or to the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia.

Moscow clarified that Another corridor will start from Kharkov to the Russian city of Belgorod.

End, Two corridors will be set up to evacuate civilians from Sumy: one to Belgorod and the other to Poltava in Ukraine.
