THE Ukraine called today the residents of the occupied areas around him nuclear power plant of Zaporizhia to evacuate the city for their own safety.
Moscow and Kyiv accuse each other of bombing the nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest, with the risk of a nuclear disaster.
“I appeal to the residents of the areas adjacent to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant … and I tell them to evacuate! Find a way to get to territory controlled by Ukraine,” Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshuk said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.
The exiled Ukrainian mayor of Enerhodar, the main city serving the nuclear plant, said in a separate Telegram post that the city is under fire from Russian forces and that its power supply has been cut.
Russia denies targeting civilians and accuses Kyiv of bombing the nuclear plant.
