Officials announced that massive Russian missile strikes were launched in the early hours of the morning in Kharkiv and Odesa regions, respectively in the east and south Ukraineas well as in cities in its western part.
For months now, the Russia bombards key Ukrainian facilities with missiles and UAVs, causing problems in the daily life of millions of Ukrainians, especially in their supply of electricity, heating and running water.
“The enemy carried out about fifteen strikes in the city and district” of Kharkiv, regional official Oleg Sinekhubov said on social media.
Russian forces are “once again targeting essential facilities,” he continued.
“According to the first information, a private house was hit in the Kharkiv region,” he added, promising that “clear” clarifications about the victims and the extent of the damage would be given later, as reported by international agencies and the Athens News Agency.
In the city of Kharkiv, the main one in the region of the same name, the mayor Igor Terekhov confirmed that the targets of the attacks were “energy infrastructure” and added that there are “problems” with electricity in some areas of the city.
In the Odesa region (south), on the Black Sea, official Maxim Marchenko reported that “missiles hit regional energy infrastructure and damaged residential buildings”, speaking of a “massive missile strike”.
“Fortunately, there are no casualties,” he added, clarifying that “electricity restrictions” were put into effect in the area.
Anti-aircraft defense was also activated in the vicinity of the capital, Kiev, according to the local military command.
Russian strikes were also reported in the cities of Dnipro and Poltava (central).
In western Ukraine, Serhiy Hamali, an official in the Khmelnytskyi region, called on residents to “remain in shelters” as “the enemy is hitting key infrastructure of the country.”
Targets in the cities of Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Rivne and Lutsk, far from the fronts, were also hit.
