War in Ukraine: More than 3.3 million refugees have fled the country

More than 3.3 million refugees have fled Ukraine since its inception Russian invasionannounced the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, while about 6.5 million have been relocated inside Ukraine.

“People continue to leave because they are afraid of bombs, airstrikes and blindfolds,” said UNHCR chief Filippo Grady. “Only the end of the war can do that.”

90% of Ukrainian refugees are women and children. Men between the ages of 18 and 60 can be recruited and must stay in their home country.

Six out of ten Ukrainian refugees cross the border with Poland. The total number of Ukrainians who have reached the country to date has exceeded 2 million.

About 500,000 Ukrainians have arrived in Romania, including refugees who crossed Ukraine’s border with Moldova and headed for Romania.

The border with Moldova, closest to Odessa, has been crossed by more than 350,000 Ukrainian refugees, who are headed through Moldovan territory to other countries.

About 300,000 refugees have entered Hungary, 240,009 Ukrainians have fled to Slovakia, about 185,000 to Russia and 2,500 to Belarus.
