War in Ukraine: Moscow’s deadline in Kiev for negotiations

A diplomatic thriller has erupted in recent hours, as according to SKAI, Russia gives Ukraine a deadline of 16:00 (Greek time) to respond to its proposal to start negotiations to end the war in Belarus.

Recent reports indicate that Vladimir Putin’s aide, Vladimir Medinsky, has vowed to secure the Ukrainian mission if he is in Belarus for talks, with the Russian delegation already in the city of Gomel and awaiting a response from the Ukrainians.

Representatives of the Ukrainian government have no plans to travel to Belarus for talks, Zelensky’s spokesman Sergei Nikiforov said.

“We have heard reports that a Russian delegation has come to Gomel for talks. We must say that representatives of Ukraine will not be there. “This possibility was really discussed, but at the last minute the Russian negotiators asked the Ukrainian army to lay down its arms first,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
