According to a Daily Mail report, Golovenskaya’s son is a Russian major who piloted a Sukhoi SU-30SM fighter jet. Alexei’s fighter jet was shot down on March 5 near Mykolaiv, a town in southern Ukraine near the Black Sea, and the pilot was arrested.
In a video released by the Ukrainian army, Golovenskaya burst into tears talking about her son. «I am overwhelmed with sadness and shame for my son. We repeatedly heard the creepy sound of sirens from the air raid on Kremenchug. “It was very difficult for me to understand how they obeyed this criminal order for the bombing of Ukraine,” said the Ukrainian mother.
“Naturally, I’m worried about my son. “After he was arrested, at least he survived,” he continues and concludes with tears in his eyes: «I apologize to the Ukrainian people and I apologize to my son and to myself for not being able to raise a normal, worthy person».
