It was the second call in Russia’s day, which had given a 24-hour ultimatum to the last defenders of the Azofstal steel plant to surrender.

Russian troops will maintain a ceasefire in the area around Azovstal while the proposal is in forcestarting at 2 noon on April 20, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

Earlier, according to Ukrainian presidential adviser Mikhail Pontoliak, Russia hit the vast Azovstal steel plant, one of the last pockets of resistance in Mariupol, with bunker-buster bombs.

“People are watching the killing of children online and remain silent,” Pontoliak wrote on Twitter.

Russia denies targeting civilians, and Russia’s Interfax news agency reported that about 120 civilians who had taken refuge in Azofstal, a besieged Ukrainian port city, had left the steel plant through humanitarian corridors.

Mariupol could fall into the hands of Russian forces in a few days, a European official said today, on Holy Tuesday. warning that the suffering of the city may be worse than that experienced by Boukathe city where the Russians are accused of committing atrocities against civilians.
