Denmark passes law facilitating the issuance of residence permits to Ukrainian refugees

Its parliament Denmark passed a law to facilitate the issuance of residence permits to refugees who left Ukraine to escape war.

The law was passed by a large majority after the government negotiated with party representatives late last night. It is intended to be granted to refugees from Ukraine a two-year residence permit in the Nordic country, to make it easier for them to find employment as soon as possible, to have automatic access to health services and the right to send their children to kindergartens, kindergartens and schools.

The so-called “Ukrainian law” aims to give refugees practically equal rights to those enjoyed by citizens of EU member states in Denmark. Normal asylum procedures will not be followed for them.

The law is expected to be valid for two years in principle, but its extension is not ruled out.

According to the numbers of the Danish Immigration Service, from February 24 to Wednesday (16/3) 1,733 Ukrainians had applied for asylum in Denmark. Copenhagen expects several thousand more refugees to arrive in the country.
