War in Ukraine: One of the damaged power lines at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant repaired

Ukrainian experts repaired one of the damaged power lines in nuclear power plant of Zaporizhiareported the Ukrainian agency Interfax, citing the state energy company.

Three of the five lines were damaged or disconnected after Russian forces occupied the station, the largest of its kind in Europe, on March 4. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said earlier that Ukraine had informed it that the line should be operational by the beginning of next week.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently announced that Ukraine had told it that Russia intended to take full and permanent control of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, but that Russia later refused.

The chairman of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant management company Energoatom, Petro Kotin, said in a letter to the director general that almost 400 Russian soldiers were “permanently present (in Zaporizhia)”, the International Atomic Energy Agency added.
